Quelle merveilleux voyage!
Students and staff enjoyed every minute of this amazing France trip.
We left school very early in the morning of Thursday 14th February to the City of Love, driven by Toni, our driver. Students were still half asleep but very excited at the same time and for some of them, this trip was going to be their first experience abroad. The journey went smoothly and all impeccably well behaved throughout the journey and the trip in general.
Upon arrival at Château de la Grande Romaine, we left our luggage in our rooms before having our evening entertainment. Some brave students tasted their first snails. After dinner, the PGL staff showed us round site and led the students to make … pancakes! Students really enjoyed making them and were given the opportunity to practise the French language while making them.
On the Friday, everyone was really excited for a magical day to Disneyland Paris! Students had access to both parks and were able to go on different rides and the queues were not too long. The weather was gorgeous which made the day truly magical. We were very privileged to stay for the night illuminations and fireworks. Everyone had a magnificent time from start to finish.
Saturday was a special day as well, not only because of Alissia’s birthday but the students had a real immersion in the city of Paris and its wonders. We started by the majestic Tour Eiffel and climbed until the second floor. A special well done to the best climber Harvey! The weather was still beautiful and we could admire the majestic City of Light from the top and some students tasted their first Macarons from the famous chocolate maker Le Notre. When we went down, we had our lunch and then, enjoyed a little adventure on a boat trip on the Seine where we could admire Notre Dame and escaped the Yellow vests! We carried on our trip to Montmartre Sacré Coeur with a quick visit on the church and another wonderful view of Paris. Students went shopping around Montmartre and it was a real pleasure to see them ordering in French and growing in confidence in speaking the French language!
We finished our Parisian day in an Alsacian (Northern France) restaurant and a quick trip to Macdonald where students were amazed at the selection of sauce Olala!
We finally went back to Birmingham after a nice and calm journey and arrived safe earlier than expected!
