“Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility.”

Policies:

All Staff receive induction training on the school’s safeguarding procedures as soon as they join the school.

All Staff receive annual full training updates.

All Staff receive  fortnightly safeguarding updates.

What should I do if I am concerned about a student?

  • Something a student says
  • Marks or bruising on a student
  • Changes in a student’s behaviour

If a student discloses that they are being harmed you must:

  • React calmly.
  • Listen carefully.
  • Not promise confidentiality; explain that you may need to tell somebody if the student’s safety is at risk.
  • Reassure the student that they have done the right thing.
  • Take a record of what the student has said on a Pink Notice of Concern form including the date, time and how and when the information was received. This information must be passed to the DSL immediately.

You must inform the school’s designated safeguarding lead (DSL); our DSL is Mrs J Smith. If our DSL is unavailable you must inform the Deputy DSLs Miss K Slater or Miss S Hyde.

What should I do if I am concerned about a Staff member?

Where you have concerns about the conduct of a member of staff following an observation or disclosure from a child, then you must immediately inform the Headteacher Miss K Slater.  If the concern relates to the Headteacher, you must immediately inform the CEO of CORE Education Trust, Adrian Packer, on 0121 389 2824.
